International Sea Shanty Festival, Falmouth, Cornwall, June 17th -19th

in a harbour-side pub six years ago – is now one of the most eagerly anticipated annual events in the region.  The festival enjoys an international reputation for its welcoming, characterful atmosphere, raising essential funding for the RNLI (to date just over £20k has been raised), and supported, both in spirit and in song, by established talents such as the chart-topping Fishermen's Friends – the winners of the 'Good Tradition' title and runners-up for Best Group at the recent Radio 2 Folk Awards 2011.

This year's event will see 27 acts (including Fishermen's Friends) singing their maritime hearts out throughout the days and late into the nights on three main stages across the town (Discovery Quay, The Moor and Custom House Quay), in addition to a spread of nearby venues. Several special performances are also planned including singing aboard the replica of 15th Century merchant sailing ship 'The Matthew' (www.matthew.co.uk), a performance at the nearby National Trust-owned Trelissick Gardens and a special service at King Charles The Martyr Church on Sunday 19th led by the Sheringham Shantymen. A keynote concert involving two of the larger groups will also be held at Falmouth's arts centre, The Poly, on the Saturday night.

Solar Water Heating Without Panels: New Air Conditioner Captures Heat, Makes Hot Water

The ACWH provides high efficiency indoor cooling and can make up to 100 gallons of hot water per day without consuming any extra energy for water heating. The ACWH leverages the fact that a home or other building acts as a giant solar thermal collector, gaining solar heat that is then thrown away by an air conditioner. Instead of throwing away the collected heat like a normal air conditioner would, Hotspot's new air conditioner recovers the waste heat and transfers it into the user's hot water tank. The ACWH air conditioner water heater is a ductless mini-split unit designed to cool one large room up to 1,000 square feet. For thermal safety, the water temperature is controlled by a limit switch so that it will not exceed 140F.

According to HotSpot company spokesperson Dan Diver, "For customers in the south, the air conditioner water heater  saves about 30% in electric costs, and up to 100% in water heating costs, compared to a standard air conditioner and water heater, so the 1086274749  system can pay for itself as quickly as one to two years".

HotSpot offers the Air Conditioning Water Heater through a network of dealers in North and Central America. According to Diver, the company is actively seeking dealers all around the world, and will sell directly to users in areas where no dealers have been established.

Zambia Mining Report Q2 2011: New research report available at Fast Market Research

PRLog (Press Release)– May 27, 2011– Zambia's mining sector is set to continue its recovery seen over the last decade. The country had seen declining copper output throughout the 1990s but a dodge mixture of low taxes, privatisation and elevated copper prices has seen a substantial boost to investment and output. We expect the value of the mining sector to reach US$1.35bn by 2015 from US$590mn in 2010, marking an annual average growth rate of 7.5%.

Copper Output To Pass 1mtpa In 2013

Copper mining will remain the mainstay of Zambia's mining sector, with output reaching 1.3mnt (million tonnes) in 2015, from 819kt (thousand tonnes) in 2010, marking average growth of 8.1% per chevrolet annum. Much of this growth will be driven by First Quantum, which expects to start to produce 190ktpa (thousand tonnes per annum) by 2014 at the Sentinel deposit and is increasing output at the Kanshanshi mine from 250 to 400ktpa in 2015. We expect the country's copper production will surpass 1mntpa (million tonnes her annum) in 2013, a year later than the Zambian government forecasts. The company appears to be focusing on Zambia as the centre of its African growth opportunities, after the legal wrangling with the DRC government over the Frontier mine. The other major contributor to growth will be Vedanta Resources, which is doubling cadillac output at the Konkola mine to 400ktpa in 2015.

Cobalt will exhibit similar levels of growth to copper as the two metals are generally mined together. In the short term, Equinox Minerals plans to double output at its Lumwana mine to 4.0ktpa in 2011. In addition, First Quantum's Kanshashi mine is expected to increase cobalt production from 3.5 to 5ktpa in 2015. Overall, we expect Zambia's cobalt production to reach 13.4ktpa in 2015, marking average growth of 8.9% per annum from 8.8kt in 2010.

Regulatory Environment

Zambia's mining sector has been highly amenable to foreign investment since the privatisation of the state controlled Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM) at the end of the 1990s. Indeed, while one of the opposition parties, the Patriotic Front, has stated that it seeks greater control of the mining sector and will increase taxes on mining companies, our country risk team expect the ruling party to remain in power and sustain the country's investor-friendly outlook.

Aside from its substantial high-grade copper reserves, Zambia's mining sector is favourable to mining companies as the government recently ruled out the reintroduction of the windfall tax on mining companies' profits. This gives Zambia a competitive advantage over other large copper producers such as Australia, Chile and Peru where levies on mining output have been proposed or already implemented. Going forward, we expect Zambia to remain a business friendly environment as foreign investment in the country's mining sector is a key part of the Zambian government's plans to maintain strong growth over the coming years.

Zambia's mining sector is dominated by a few foreign copper mining companies, most notably First Quantum and Vedanta Resources. We forecast the sector will remain dominated by foreign mining companies as the government has privatised all the former state assets involved in mining and has given no indication of plans to re-enter the sector. Drivers should ensure that their tyres have adequate tread depth to grip potentially slippery road surfaces and are properly inflated to carry any additional loads such as luggage or extra passengers.

"As the only contact point between a vehicle and road surface, it's essential that drivers make sure their tyres are in a suitable condition to cope with the potentially hazardous conditions. To cope properly with wet conditions, drivers should check their tyre tread depth as the tread pattern helps to remove water from the road surface, allowing the tyre to grip the road properly. Tyres without adequate tread depth may suffer from a loss of grip or traction leading to longer stopping distances, reduced handling and an increased risk of aquaplaning.

Current UK law requires car tyres to have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread across the central three quarters of the tyre, around its whole circumference. Drivers found to be in breach of these regulations, not only risk their own safety and that of other road users, but they can also face a fine of up to £2,500 and three penalty points for each illegal tyre.

However, to make tread depth checks easy, TyreSafe is reminding drivers they simply need to take the 20p test. The synopsis for DISENCHANTED is as follows: Amanda Gottadolla (MANDI) has it all. The adopted daughter of multi-millionaire moguls, this sassy New York socialite seems to live the perfect life. But things aren't always what they seem.

Everyone has a story, and Mandi's is quite an unusual one. Once upon a time, the fabulously rich (but childless) power couple Mr. and Mrs. Gottadolla adopted an African-American baby girl. But when media melee and racial backlash ensued, the overprotective parents resolved to shield their daughter at all costs. They removed all mirrors from the house except for one, and hired a beautiful blonde orphan named Ashley Sue to play Mandi's "reflection." Mandi grew up happy in her chrysler illusion of perfection--until she lost her mother and father in a tragic accident. Now it's up to her boyfriend DANIEL and twin besties BEE-BEE and DEE-DEE to protect Mandi from the truth. Their well meaning deception continues without a hitch, until an unfortunate run-in with Moneydales employees STEPHEN Q. BURKOWSKI and MARGARITA. Mandi, realizing that her whole life has been a lie, is devastated. After some soul searching--and a word of wisdom from Barack Obama himself--Mandi realizes that being African-American in no way diminishes who she is. She also makes an important confession; that on some subconscious level, she always knew she was Black--she just didn't want to see it. Realizing that Black truly is Beautiful, Mandi is finally ready to embrace reality--for better or worse. Our story ends with Mandi forgiving everyone, including herself, while vowing to find her birth mother and become the woman she is destined to be.

"DISENCHANTED" is a fantastical tale with a very real message about learning to love yourself from the "outside-in."

In July of the same year, it received a stage reading at the Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre.
